Ghesquiere For LV: Debut

Pears Be the first to comment!
So it's finally here--- the fashion world's most anticipated LV show for Fall 2014 has come and gone. It seems to me everyone was so excited for Nicolas Ghesquiere's first step into a new realm in fashion, like seeing off your first born to his first day in school.

Without further ado, here are some of my personal favorites from the collection:

Louis Vuitton Fall 2014

Love the blue suede trimming and leather sleeves!

Nice clean silhouette and the colors are great neutrals...

Nice fall color combination and I love how the belt loops over, casual but chic!

It wouldn't be an LV show without the accessories! Here are my favorites...

This shoe and bag combo is divine!

Cute little Speedy in a nice vintage leather.

Honey, they shrunk the trunks and me likey.

As you've read in my previous post, I love Ghesquiere. I simply adore him. But I also like to be honest to my readers. Overall, I thought the collection was lukewarm. I felt like there was something missing here, almost like he was playing it safe with this collection---but mind you, these pieces are a great step forward for what Ghesquiere can do for LV. Some of the design elements and details in this collection haven't been seen in an LV show since Marc Jacobs' tenure (and that is a really good thing!) but maybe with so much anticipation building up and having crazy expectations for our wonderboy, anything less would immediately seem mediocre. This definitely isn't one of his best but once he gets over this transitional period, you better make sure you're wearing your padded butt pants 'coz this guy is going to knock all of us off our patent leather heels.

Besides...this isn't his first rodeo, he's only warming up.
Save a horse, ride a cowboy. Yeehaw!

Best of NY Fashion Week Spring 2013

Alas, one of the most prestigious events in New York has finally come to a close today but everyone is still abuzz on the fantastic line-up of live, poppy spring colors and intricate floral designs showcased by the creme de la creme of the fashion empire. I've picked out some of my faves...from simple soft feminine silhouettes to cinched waists, full brocade skirts as well as dramatic and sheer lace!

Hot White

Pears 2 Comments so far

We're crawling towards Labor Day here in the Estados Unidos so some may say ta-ta to their favorite white ensemble since some idiot back in the day decided that it was a fashion no-no to bask yourself in the glory of fresh, white threads after the said holiday.

But then again, who's stopping you? Global warming and drastic climate change is enough reason to say yes to white even AFTER LABOR DAY.

And who can say no to these?

Ladies, I know it's sometimes hard to pull off the white clothes especially when you can't keep the mustard and ketchup from making love to your precious white outfit...so just make sure to stick one of those bleach pens in your bag 'coz you'll never know, you might be cravin' for some chili cheese fries or worse..if you get an early visit from your you-know-what. (ew. double ew.)

Have a great hot white weekend! =)

Fall/Winter 2012: Sneak Peek

Bring out the old tapestries, sequined curtains and your Persian carpets, people! Looks like the fashion empire is embracing the over-embellished, big bold prints for the upcoming Fall/Winter season and they are gracing evidently on most of your favorite designers' runways. For some designers like Etro and Lanvin, bright colors are unexpectedly harmonized into the usual dark tones of fall...now how's that for a kick-start of the season?

I think I just got warped into another zone with Prada's big unapologetic prints...I feel like poppin' an Advil or two right about now. I would personally pass on Vuitton's collection since it remotely reminds me of a cross between a clown's wife and a big bad brooch ( I don't know, the vision is stuck in my head). Sorry, Marcy boy. All the other designs above, I would totally rock them, especially Balmain, I love the intricate details...now only if I can stop myself from devouring my second blueberry muffin for the past hour then maybe I can ACTUALLY fit into them...

So, are you going to join the bandwagon or are you going to hibernate 'til the resort collection comes out?

Toodles!

There are followers and then there are the pioneers... In the world of fashion, it's easy to follow trends and keep up with the latest buzz but it takes more than just a keen eye to be a CREATOR. I'm not a fashion designer and I don't consider myself a "fashionista" (Jeez Almighty, I loathe that word) but I am an avid fan of designers who form complex ideas in their mind and know how to execute it perfectly, breathing life into their creations.

With that said, I'd like to share with you my Ultimate Favorite Fashion Designer of all time:

Elie Saab

"Born in 1964 in Lebanon, Elie Saab is a self-taught fashion talent. His interest in dressmaking started at the young age of 9, already making clothes for his sisters. The talented adolescent sold his creations to the women in his neighborhood." - Taken from www.eliesaab.com

Aside from the fact that he comes up with the dreamiest, original designs that I've ever seen, I love how his creations are totally WEARABLE. I can practically do splits and cart wheels in them! Well, no I can't because I'm not athletic... the only split I know is a banana split. There are some designers that make their designs too complicated that it's just not feasible enough to wear outside the cat walk. I'm telling you... there ain't no other designer that makes me want to be a girly girl than Elie Saab.

From his Haute Couture Spring Summer 2012. The fabric, the bead work, the colors, the textures, the draping... ABSOLUTELY PERFECT... *drool* *die* *drool*

And here are some of my faves from his Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011 Collection...

If I ever get to wear one of Elie Saab's gowns, I'm going to be snapping my fingers and sing Sashay Shante all night long, baby!
