Hot White

Pears 2 Comments so far

We're crawling towards Labor Day here in the Estados Unidos so some may say ta-ta to their favorite white ensemble since some idiot back in the day decided that it was a fashion no-no to bask yourself in the glory of fresh, white threads after the said holiday.

But then again, who's stopping you? Global warming and drastic climate change is enough reason to say yes to white even AFTER LABOR DAY.

And who can say no to these?

Ladies, I know it's sometimes hard to pull off the white clothes especially when you can't keep the mustard and ketchup from making love to your precious white outfit...so just make sure to stick one of those bleach pens in your bag 'coz you'll never know, you might be cravin' for some chili cheese fries or worse..if you get an early visit from your you-know-what. (ew. double ew.)

Have a great hot white weekend! =)

5 Reasons Why

Pears 5 Comments so far

It's true. I'm in love with the boyfriend. Sometimes there's nothing more I'd like to do but gush over him all day. He's the only one who makes me giggle and blush like someone's choking the oxygen supply out of me. Miguel and I totally apply to the rule of "opposites attract". We're like Tom and Jerry, Ren and Stimpy, Winnie and Pooh...Ha! You fell for the last one, didn't you? Back in college, I used to itch into going out every weekend..it was like the end of the world for me if I didn't get the chance to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle on the dance floor and my nerdy boyfriend used to try to talk me into having a grand time with dvd's and popcorn instead..okay fine, I'm lying, it wasn't popcorn...more of "chicharon" (pork rind) sans vinegar and crushed red chili peppers..BOO!

Anyway, before I get hungry thinking about chicharon...I decided to compile a short list of why I truly adore the BF.

Reason #1 He taught me what an aurora is. The only limited knowledge that I had back then of an "Aurora" was of a local notebook brand back in the Philippines. (Any of my Filipino friends out there remember this brand or am I totally making stuff up?) Without him, I would have gone to Alaska and pointed out to the magical lights in the sky as "magical rainbow thingies".

Reason #2 He divides his love between me and a guy named Frank aka Franky Boy, and I don't mind at all. Okay before you start singing It's Raining Men, I'm referring to a genius architect named Frank Lloyd Wright. There's really nothing better than a man who's so passionate about his craft/profession. Dudes, it is fascinating though.. the Robie House, designed by Architect Wright (shown below with a foxy couple on the side) was built in 1910. 19 freakin' 10. This was made a whole entire century ago.

Reason #3 I can't cook nor bake and he's grown accustomed to my usual mantra of "One day, I will make enough money to pay for someone to cook for you, if not, you get to pick on take-outs" It's either take-outs or he can eat charred stuff of what was once edible. Exhibit A down below: Me burning sliced hotdogs...

Reason #4 He randomly hums a tune like "Me and you, and you and me..so happy togetherrrr.." and tries to aim that high note with his deep voice.

The Turtles- Happy Together

Reason #5 He lets me hide underneath his heavy arm while watching scary movies but ends up getting scared as well so we both jump from our seats at the same time. Sadakkooooooo....

There are so many little things that I can talk about when it comes to how adorable the boyfriend is but I don't want to bore you or make you lose your sanity. I just like to frequently talk about him because I think that if we truly like someone, we should just show it and say it. You know, it would be nice to keep something like this in mind about your significant other so one day when you're upset with each other, you can go back to that thought on why you're with that person in the first place. I've seen so many broken homes and broken relationships just because couples tend to forget about the good things in their relationship. I, myself am guilty of it at times but one should remember to never let petty fights nor pride get the best of you and make you forsake your partner and your relationship in the process.

Don't forget to appreciate the small, mundane things because they may end up being the most unforgettable.

The Ugly Step Sister

College was one of the most difficult times that I had to endure in my entire life. I had no sleep (due to partying), I was always starving (due to munchies after partying), and people used to call me names..like.."Snow White", because supposedly I had the palest legs of them all. It's okay...if I'm Snow White then the people around me are the..seven dwarfs. Just kidding, you know me love you long time! But the teasing didn't stop there. You see, I have some junk...but it's not in my trunk...it went to my lips instead, so ever since my good ol' college buddies discovered that I supposedly had the slightest resemblance of Angelina Jolie, the abuse never died down.

Here's what my eager boyfriend came up with...you be the judge.

Call me crazy but I don't think I'd cry anytime soon if I were compared all the time to someone who looks like a freakin' goddess. In all honesty, I really don't know how to react about it, I mean..if I say thanks, they might think I'm conceited for thinking that I do look like her but if I disagree, they might think I'm fishing. I don't know, I'm just not good at taking compliments at all.

Anyways, it's just for laughs so don't take it up in the hiney-ho and think that I'm telling everyone to worship me and build me a shrine just 'coz the Tomb Raider and I share a similar asset..hmm..on second thought, if you worship me, can I get free pizza out of it?...

Have a great weekend!

Fall/Winter 2012: Sneak Peek

Pears Be the first to comment!

Bring out the old tapestries, sequined curtains and your Persian carpets, people! Looks like the fashion empire is embracing the over-embellished, big bold prints for the upcoming Fall/Winter season and they are gracing evidently on most of your favorite designers' runways. For some designers like Etro and Lanvin, bright colors are unexpectedly harmonized into the usual dark tones of fall...now how's that for a kick-start of the season?

I think I just got warped into another zone with Prada's big unapologetic prints...I feel like poppin' an Advil or two right about now. I would personally pass on Vuitton's collection since it remotely reminds me of a cross between a clown's wife and a big bad brooch ( I don't know, the vision is stuck in my head). Sorry, Marcy boy. All the other designs above, I would totally rock them, especially Balmain, I love the intricate details...now only if I can stop myself from devouring my second blueberry muffin for the past hour then maybe I can ACTUALLY fit into them...

So, are you going to join the bandwagon or are you going to hibernate 'til the resort collection comes out?

I love to eat, I like to stress that out all the time. I love to eat when I'm happy and I love to stuff my face eat when I'm feeling down. There's just something about food that makes me feel calm and fully satisfied. Here's a fun fact for my dear readers out there: No matter how bad of an argument that the boyfriend and I get into, all he has to do is say the magic words and I'm totally signing the peace treaty and calling off World War III.

I'm sure some of you dudes out there are dying to know what these so-called magic words are, ey? Well...the magic words are " What do you want to eat?" Yup, ladies and gentlemen, I am such a piggy.

That's how Miguel shuts me up. Literally stuffing my mouth with good ol' comfort food. Everyone's got their own version of comfort food so here's some of my favorite greasy, deep-fried, sugary treats that Migz bribes me with when I'm in my rabid mode. (A little bit of foaming in the mouth, but nothing serious)

Chicken Fingers Seriously, who doesn't like deep-fried boneless chicken strips paired with lightly-seasoned steak fries?

Via Applebee's

Bacon and Mushroom Pizza Bacccoooooonnnnnn!

Korean BBQ Short Ribs Also known as "Kalbi". I don't usually like to eat a lot of pork and beef but this is what my carnivore boyfriend introduced me to and I have been hooked ever since.

Shrimp Fried Rice Dude, I'm Asian. My body's made up of 50% water and 50% rice. Bring on the MSG, baby!

via foodsitescatalog.com

Haagen-Dazs I personally like the Chocolate Cookie Dough flavor but anything else is good as long as it's not one of those reduced fat or less sugar kinda stuff.

Blueberry Muffin I love the ones that are sugary on the top and moist on the inside!

Even the mere sight of my fave comfort food is making me feel better =)

I've been feeling down in the dumps lately so I hope you guys could bear with me for awhile. When I do get enough time to sit and enjoy some silence, I tend to over analyze things and my mind gets all stirred up like chop suey. What's even more sad is the fact that it's the inedible kind of chop suey, so I am not only sad,but I am hungry sad.

Sometimes I try to gain some perspective when I have those lackluster days. Sometimes life puts you in circumstances wherein you just don't know how to deal with it. It's like someone slapping you in the face with a dead fish but right at that very moment, you know that you just freeze from where you stand because you totally didn't see that coming. And then once it sinks in, you play everything over and over in your head, thinking what you could have done instead or what you shouldn't have done.

So what do you do? Ah. There was once a wise man that wore a top hat and a walking cane who said "Keep Walking". I know my alcohol-friendly buddies are very familiar with this man named Johnnie.

This perspective could be applied to any circumstance, mind you. And no, it doesn't mean it's normal for you to get slapped randomly across the face with a dead fish. It could be about a relationship on the rocks (friendly or intimate), a career that has failed to launch or even both.

Sometimes I envy people who are always happily posting happy pictures of their happy lives and happy adventures and happy travels. Damn you, Facebook. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for everyone else who's happy, but I'm wondering if it's possible that in the near future, can I finally get some of that happiness too? I don't know, one day I'm so content with what I have and on other days I'm like..what the heck, why don't I have this or that?!

If you've never felt the way I'm feeling, then good for you. I don't know. I'm writing this for the sole purpose of venting out so you can unlike this post if you want. I give you my permission, only for now though. But when I get back on my feet, I expect you all to be liking this post or I will hunt you all down, one IP address at a time. Wait, don't run away...you know I'm just kidding. *big grin*

Anyway, nothing better than good music to soothe the aching soul.

Annie Lennox- Waiting In Vain

Queen and David Bowie- Under Pressure

Amy Winehouse- Help Yourself

And this one's for my dance moves in the shower..

Black Eyed Peas- Don't Stop The Party

Oh and FYI, I know you're probably putting on your thinking caps on and wondering what's going on with me... sorry to burst your soapy bubble but I'm glad to say that the architect and I are not engaged in a cage fight. No Ultimate Fighter moves here. Yey for that!

I hope the heavens can see me dancing in the shower so maybe they can give me a break! =)

There's Something About Mary

Pears 4 Comments so far
I know that most of my readers consist of faithful friends and family who are nothing less than supportive of my wacky antics but I would like to take this time to fill in some random gaps for the rest of my fellow readers who have loyally followed my blog, even if they barely know me. Honestly, there's too many too mention because I am such a random person and you will only realize this after you've finished reading this entire post..so here it goes...

Random Pears Fact #1: I keep a radio in my bathroom so I could dance while I'm in the shower. And nope, I don't normally sing, but I can bust some Step Up moves in there while working up a lather! So while I'm washing my hair, I may be dancing to songs like these..

Wild Cherry- Play That Funky Music (White Boy)

Queen- Crazy Little Thing Called Love

And ofcourse, a little bit of this..."this is how I roll, animal print pants out of control"

LMFAO- Sexy And I Know It

Random Pears Fact #2: Yes, a lot of you may say that my hefty appetite is one of the most basic things to know about me...But your definition of hefty might just be my normal order at McDonald's. I used to enjoy their delivery service back in the Philippines so I would never starve. (yep, to add more syrup to your gluttony, McDonald's delivers in the Philippines! Oh yea!)

So what do I get?

FOUR CHICKEN SANDWICHES

THREE LARGE FRIES

TWO ICED TEAS

TWO HOT FUDGE SUNDAES

Yes, I would finish all of it in one sitting. Now take note, I used to order like this so don't think that I still eat that way up to this day. I'm trying to lay off the sweets though 'coz my throat is finally taking it's own revenge on me and gets all sore when I have too much of that good sugary stuff. Boo.

Random Pears Fact #3: I love playing video games and I'm actually pretty good at it. I've been playing against my brother since I was a wee little fruit so it's just a habit that I can't get rid of. I currently have a Playstation 3 which was given by my Mr. Architect when it first came out in December a couple of years back. I remember I was holding on to it tightly when I got it because this was the time when people were getting shot in parking lots just to get a hold of the new Playstation!

I like playing those that I call "versus games" such as Tekken, Mortal Combat, etc. I used to like those cute ones too like Crash Bandicoot, Donkey Kong, etc. And thanks to my boyfriend, I like playing RPG games like Elder Scrolls, etc.  Wow I sound like a nerd, but it's okay. Nerds grow up to be gazillionares and cool people anyway.

Random Pears Fact #4: I like going into baby stores and look at all their merchandise...from booties and onesies to bibs and teething toys. Everything just looks so tiny and colorful, plus I love babies so it's kind of therapeutic for me when I browse around. My fave brand so far is Carter's...

I mean, who doesn't think this is adorable?

Puppy hooded blanket.. I want one for myself! I seriously want a hooded blanket! If they had an adult size for this, I would be sleeping in it right about now.

Random Pears Fact#5: I'm scared to swim alone in a swimming pool because I'm always thinking that a shark is following me from behind. Yep, A SHARK. Thank you, Jaws.

Still there? Well, well, well...looks like someone is diligent to know more about me today =) Ha! I'm pretty sure I can come up with more random things about myself but if you want to know anything about me, feel free to leave me a message/comment and I'd be glad to satisfy your curiosity  =)

Hey, thanks for reading!

Phelps for Vuitton

Did you see the new ad of Michael Phelps for Louis Vuitton yet? What do you think? The ad campaign was shot by my fave photographer, Annie Leibovitz.

I think he should have opted for a bubble bath minus the goggles.

This is probably one of the rare moments that I've seen the Olympian dressed to the nines. Good job, Louis for styling our Merman in a three-piece suit.

I don't think it would hurt if we put this 6'7" feet tall cutie on one of the ads as well. Nathan Adrian has one of the most charming personalities in Team USA and he's gorgeous! =)

Looking at his biceps is making me a little light-headed.
